Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed
lady who has a vibrant personality. She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to
Susan (Duggan) she was she was an English teacher, and also a one-time actress.
Harry Hyra was a math teacher. She has Ruthenian, Polish, Irish and German
heritage ("Hyra" is a Ruthenian surname and "Ryan" is her
maternal grandmother's maiden name). Meg has graduated from Bethel High School,
Bethel in May 1979. Meg moved to New York City and studied journalism at New York
University. Meg Ryan was her name and she started acting to earn additional
money as she finished her education. 1981 was her biggest screen debut. She
portrayed Candice Bergen's baby girl in the film by George Cukor Rich and
Famous (1981). She was chosen for the role of Betsy in the TV soap As the World
Turns (1956) after she had a go at. She was in the show's cast from 1982 to
1984. Meg was also participant in the television show One of the Boys (1982)
but it was swiftly cancelled. Her move to Hollywood came in 1984 and got an
opportunity to be a part of the western television series Wildside (1985).
Meg's role in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being selected for
Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred alongside Dennis
Quaid. Meg was also a co-star with Quaid in the remake of D.O.A. (1988) and
married in Saint Valentine's Day 1991. In 1989, Meg appeared in When Harry Met
Sally... (1989) and the scene in the restaurant gained a lot of attention. Meg
was twice nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred
with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three
roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, she appeared alongside Tom in
Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was nominated again for the Golden
Globe. Meg was able to break away from the norm in 1994 in the film of Meg's
drunken wife and mother "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994). Meg
returned to her role as "cute" afterward with I.Q. (1994) and French
Kiss (1995). People Magazine voted Meg as one of the top 50 beautiful women on
earth 1994.
